Of a Place is a multi-disciplinary group show presented as a contemporary portrait of Washington State’s diverse landscapes, topography, ecosystems, and climates.
Inspired by the impact of the Hudson River School, which presented America as a new Eden and equated American landscape with American identity, Of a Place examines how contemporary artists question what it means to be “of a place” and the relationship of place, identity, and art practice within Washington State.
Large format drawings and paintings, the written word, ceramics, installations, textiles, and more, question ideas of ownership, discovery and awe connected to the Pacific Northwest.
