Our first open call in over two years, SOIL is looking forward to welcoming new folks into our membership. This year's upcoming gallery programming is supporting dozens of artists from across the country. New members will have the opportunity to participate in shows in Seattle, Los Angeles, and Hansville, Washington. We’ve revised our membership process to acknowledge inequities from previous calls for entry and in the spirit of removing barriers, we are waiving membership dues for incoming BIPOC members.

We look forward to the influx of energy that always comes with welcoming new members. BIPOC and LGBTQ2+ artists are strongly encouraged to apply. Every SOIL member has 1-2 jobs to help the gallery and collective run. We are looking for new members who have experience with (or are open to learning about) finances and/or grant writing to help fill vacancies in those teams. If this is you, apply! Show Proposals

SOIL is not currently accepting show proposals at this time.
Our next open call will likely open in late winter of 2027.

Exhibition proposals are for the MAIN SPACE (front) of the gallery only. See map here for dimensions. SOIL does not accept unsolicited applications outside of our open call.

SOIL exists as an alternative venue for artists and curators to exhibit, develop, and advance their work. We are committed to exhibiting art of diverse media and content from members of all communities and cultures. Proposals including three or more artists are encouraged, but two-person shows will be considered if the work and concept are very strong. Solo show proposals are not accepted. All proposals are viewed by the membership and accepted or declined on a points-based system. If you are proposing an idea for a curated show it is imperative that your statement of intent, concept and background research on the topic be clear and leave us with a strong impression. Images are crucial to our understanding of your proposal. We are, for the most part, a visual group, so strong images backed with a powerful show concept will impress. All accepted proposals are dependent upon open slots in our exhibition schedule.

Accepted shows will receive a stipend of $650. Please keep this in mind when submitting. SOIL covers the cost of vinyl for your exhibition title and didactic panel.
