The Farm Where My Mother Lives
October 4 – 26, 2003
Opening Reception / Saturday, October 4, 7–10pm
The Farm Where My Mother Lives is a photographic story of a 40–acre sheep farm. This farm is quiet, uncomfortable, overgrown and beautiful. After an intimate four–year study, Kelly Kempe is exhibiting large mural prints in color and black and white.
Kelly is a disciplined artist who has been working in photography since 1995. Her most recent exhibition was an installation titled Surgical Recollections at Bumbershoot 2003. This piece consists of medical garments, sink art, and mural prints of pig hearts. Kelly received a Bachelor of Arts in literature and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from the University of Washington in 1998. Kelly plans to begin medical school in the fall of 2004.
