Chris Buening
Chris Buening graduated from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design in Wisconsin and moved to Seattle in 1998. His artwork has been exhibited throughout the United States and he has been a member of the Soil collective since 2010. In 2011 Chris received a GAP Grant from Artist Trust and was awarded an Arts Projects Grant from 4Culture in 2016. He has work in many private contemporary collections and is included in the permanent collections of Seattle City Light, Peninsula College, King County Portable Works and the Tacoma Art Museum.
For the past couple of years, he has been working on projects that explore autobiographical events and incidences; making work that touches on themes of otherness, the beauty of the weird, gay/queer themes, and the awkwardness that binds us all in our innermost thoughts and feelings. His varied and eclectic work includes large-scale murals, public installations, drawing, painting, ceramic and mixed media sculpture.
