Thank you for making our first-ever hybrid auction a big success!

When we shifted our annual in-person auction to function as both an online and in-person event, we were hoping our hybrid outreach would be impactful. And it was!
Once again community stepped up to support experimental and under-represented artists. We are so grateful for the donations from over 50 artists, our big-hearted sponsors and donors, and your generous support.

Thanks to you Meet Us in the Afterglow has enabled SOIL to support another year of amazing arts programming! Thank you!

Beyond being an important fundraiser, the auction has also become a vibrant Seattle event that the arts community looks forward to. Participating is an exciting way for the public to take home fantastic pieces by local working artists. And have a good time while supporting the arts!

GIVE SMALL

Fundraising Campaign

May 4 - June 30, 2021

You are part of the community that keeps SOIL vibrant. Your love for art that surprises, experiments, and challenges is why we’ve posted this page.

SOIL was founded in 1995 as a collectively-run non-profit gallery. We’re an experimental venue for artists and curators to exhibit, develop, and advance innovative art of diverse media and content.

There’s no staff. The 22 members of SOIL are all volunteers. That means when you give money to SOIL, it all goes to creating opportunities for artists. Even during this year of the pandemic, we showed the work of 43 artists.

For the coming year, we’ve curated a roster featuring 55 artists (45 are non-SOIL members, many from across the country) who are taking risks.

We’re looking to raise $5,200 by June 30th to make sure we have funds to pay exhibiting artists’ stipends through the end of the year (May – December, $650 x 8 = $5,200).

We’re reaching out to the friends and fans of SOIL and asking you to help us present these exciting artists by making a small ($5, $10, or $15) monthly donation to SOIL. Your small donation will make a big difference to SOIL.

You can also donate in one lump sum.

give small — get small art!

The first 12 people who donate $200 or $15/month (or more) will receive an original drawing by a SOIL member in an artist-made frame.

Each 3.5” x 4.25” drawing is unique. Artists include:

Ben Hirshkoff
Colleen RJC Bratton
Chris Buening
Ellen Ziegler
Emily Counts
Genevieve Tremblay
Jana Brevick
Kiki MacInnis
Margie Livingston
Nicholas Nyland

First come first served. Early birds get their choice of available drawings.

Thank you for considering this gift. If you have any questions, please contact Margie Livingston at gallery@soilart.org

Fri, Sat, & Sun, Dec 04 – 13, 2020

SOIL launched our their 25th Anniversary art auction on December 3, 2020.

Our responsive auction team worked hard to make this epic event happen, despite the recent challenges and constraints posed by the pandemic. Due to the health concerns and restrictions, our plans shifted from hosting our epic, annual in-person auction event to a modified hybrid event that was hosted online.

SOIL is supported in part through member’s dues and grants, but the main way we keep our doors open is through our annual auction, which pays for more than 75% of our annual expenses. Beyond being an important fundraiser, the auction has also become a staple Seattle art event — a way for the public to take home fantastic pieces by local working artists. It’s also a lot of fun!

Our virtual auction platform went live from December 3rd through December 13th, with visitors able to see the work and experience the auction in-person at our physical gallery space during our normal open hours Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, from 11am - 4pm.

We auctioned an amazing range of work by the following donating artists.

To launch our 2020 virtual auction, SOIL held a LIVE variety hour on December 3. Hosted by SOIL member Forrest Perrine, the show featured video interviews by Josh True with artists Nikita Ares, Emily Counts, Rafael Soldi, and Jana Brevik as well as games, goofs, bankers, audience contestants, and a death defying finale.
