In the Pacific Northwest we live with the threat of “The Big One,” a disaster-level earthquake along the Cascadia subduction zone that is expected to occur in the near future. In the face of impending doom and the fear of the unknown, we hope to use our collaborative practice as a vehicle to grapple with a reality we’d rather ignore. Grant’s abstract paintings, and Paula’s representational sculptures will interact through contact, overlap, and line of sight. Viewers will experience the aftermath of an undefined event where familiar forms take unfamiliar shape, unstable elements balance stable ones, and objects and images reveal their fragile nature.
