FLAT & BRIGHT

March 02 – April 02, 2011
Reception / Thursday, March 03, 6–8pm
Artist Talk / Saturday, March 05, 2pm

Julie Alpert and Andy Arkley present a new collaborative multi-media installation that pulls from each of their areas of expertise - Alpert's in installation and painting, Arkley's in animation, music performance, and sound collage. FLAT & BRIGHT includes animation with original music, site-specific installation, flashing lights, and giant fold-up plywood characters.

The pair created the parody audio guide for SOIL’s Vs the Matador exhibition and toured twice in 2010 with Arkley’s performance art band The Bran Flakes. Their stop-frame animation Round & Round (made possible by a 2009 GAP Grant) is at Gallery 4Culture through the end of the year.
