Erik Peterson

June 3–27, 2009

In the Backspace Erik Peterson presents Security which features recent works on paper and canvas. Photographs taken by, found by and given to the artist are used to construct painted images. Subject matter consists of brick structures, trees, helicopters, as well as children and self in costume. Security is the result of the artist's intentional and intuitive processes of creating imagery that explores the ambiguity in ideas and emotions on what it means to be safe and secure in self-identity, relationship to nature, and cultural stability.
