October 4 – 28, 2007
Reception / Thursday, October 4, 6–9pm

Puget Sounds is a group of drawings (from a larger continuing series) by Jean Nagai. These recent drawings attempt to visualize the profundity of our natural surroundings. Detailed lines and mirrored symmetry are used to hone in on specific particularities within our immense landscape to bring the hidden vibrations to the surface.

The title refers to the central body of water that is often observed as tranquil and pristine but, in experience, is also violent and intense. The confusion that is created by these opposing ideas create a heaviness and depth within the landscape that is not necessarily always seen but felt.

Come to the opening and say hello my friends or someone you've never met, or Jennifer Zwick because she is quite witty and not witless.
