I have grown crystals from my own blood combined with salts or sugar, with unexpectedly beautiful results and tremendous failures. Many experiments met a timely end with a bottle of bleach. Working with fundamental materials integral to life – iron, salt and blood – has provided a profound opportunity to experiment, intuitively applying scientific methodologies.
