New Works by Etsuko Ichikawa

October 5-28, 2006
Hours: Noon-5pm Thursday-Sunday
Opening reception Thursday,
October 5, 2006,  6-9pm

In the Backspace, SOIL member Etsuko Ichikawa will exhibit her new series of sculptural works "breath-memory." For this series, Ichikawa blew her own breath into molten glass to create glass bubbles, and imprinted the hot bubbles onto wood, which is one way to capture and eternalize the immediacy of a moment, a snap shot of one's life. With six sculptural pieces, glass pyrograph on paper and a short video will accompany the exhibit. This exhibit is supported in part by 4Culture and Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs.
