November 2-26, 2006
Hours: Noon-5pm Thursday Sunday
Opolis
pairs the work of Salvatore Panatteri, based in Sydney,
Australia, with that of Thom Heileson, based in Seattle,
concentrating on the use of lens media and invented
techniques to visually negotiate the urban environment.
Heileson presents a new video installation in which
imagery from the urban environment is digitally altered,
abstracted, and reassembled, resulting in a time-based
tapestry of the rhythms, textures, and simultaneity
of the city in flux.
Panatteri utilizes photography to engage with the built
environment. He will present extended exposure photographs
of urban settings in which activity and events dissipate,
recontextualizing architectural spaces as abstract realities.
This
exhibition is supported in part by the Mayors
Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs.
